Conserve-A-Story Times

The
Community Room of the Garfield Park Conservatory will exhibit
Conserve-A-Story from April 10th through the second week of June 2008.
Though the Community Room is often open to the public during regular
Conservatory hours, it is frequently rented to outside organizations. To
ensure that Conserve-A-Story is open for public viewing during your
visit to the Conservatory, please refer to the schedule below.
Thursday, April 10
5 pm to 9 pm
Conserve-A-Story Opening Reception in the Community Room, as
part of the Centennial Birthday Community Celebrations.
(This room is reserved starting at 3:30 pm for press events.)
Sunday, April 13
9 am to 3 pm
Conserve-A-Story is open for public viewing during the
Conservatory's Centennial Birthday Celebration
9 am to 3 pm
Bookmark Station- Have you ever made a bookmark? Come press
and preserve leaves and flowers to begin your own history with the
Conservatory!
3 pm to 5 pm
Open Mic Performance - Hear community stories, local
musicians, original poetry and share your own story if you'd like!

Come watch members of the community perform, “In This Place,” a one-act
play written by local playwright Cynthia Ganter-Givens in honor of the
Conservatory’s Centennial and the Conserve-A-Story exhibit.

Conserve-A-Story is open for public viewing, with a special
bookmark-making workshop.
Saturday, June 7

Conserve-A-Story is open for public viewing
10 am to 12 pm
Children's Programming - Bring your children to a storytelling and story
sharing time. Elders from the community will tell stories to the
children, and the children will have the opportunity to share their
stories as well. Later, Arthur Hubbard Jr. Choir will perform
1 pm to 3 pm
Smorgasbord & recipe swap Participants in project will bring
a family dish to share, which was previously given for a book
compilation. Food will be eaten and shared and everyone involved
receives an artist book of recipes. (This is a private event for those
involved in the project and their families)
